Longtime retailer, David’s Shoe Emporium, opened in Patchogue Village in 1947 under the name of Weiner’s Shoes. It was bought in 1976 by Ralph Zegel. David Zegel, his son, began working in the store when he was five years old and later bought it in 1993.
David’s Shoe Emporium specializes in comfort shoes and hard-to-fit sizes. It’s a full-service, family store with shoes designed for all ages – men, women, and children.
“What I love about Patchogue is that every store is unique. There are still a lot of ‘Mom n’ Pops’ stores in town and the feeling of that is apparent throughout town,” said Zegel.
“We have been working with a lot of multi-generational families; people come back to us from all across Long Island and the metro area. We take a lot of pride in rewarding that loyalty and trust with our care and service. One thing that people might not realize is that we still help put the shoes on for the customers. Our customers are really excited and appreciate that.”
